It’s Run Time
This May gives us plenty of opportunities to get your run on for a good cause. We all know how healthy running is, but did you know it can extend your life too? According to the research that will be presented in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, May 5th at a conference, small amounts of easy running done consistently can extend your lifespan by as much as six years. In the latest analysis of data from an ongoing study of residents of Copenhagen, Denmark, researchers found that those who reported running one to two-and-a-half hours per week had an increased life expectancy of 6.2 years for men and 5.6 years for women, compared to sedentary residents. There will also be a Vendor Faire full of great things for everyone to enjoy. Overall winners receive cash prizes and the top three finishers in each age division will receive a medal. Event benefits in part The Ripon High Stadium Project. Then kick off the Memorial weekend right on Saturday, May 27th, with the Modesto Memorial Classic 1-mile & 5K run/walk with pancake breakfast included for all paid runners. The runners should enjoy this new temporary route without having to deal with the associated squirrel crossing.
