Fleetwood Mac Fest at the Fonda

Fleetwood Mac Fest
By Russ Allsup

A special evening of music took place at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 10th when a diverse array of artist and musicians came together to pay tribute to the music of Fleetwood Mac.

What was billed as the Fleetwood Mac Fest was indeed a unique musical event and a proper tribute to a rock and roll institution. Artists as diverse as Dhani Harrison, M. Ward, Courtney Love, Perry Farrell, Sarah Silverman and many more paid their musical respects to the Mac.

Highlights included an energized Emily Armstrong, singer of the band Dead Sara, belting out an energetic version of the Stevie Nicks song ‘Edge of Seventeen’, Courtney Love singing ‘Silver Springs’, and comedienne Sarah Silverman performing ‘Go Your Own Way’.

Many highlights and inspiring musical moments happened this evening, and it was all for a good cause. Proceeds went to The Sweet Stuff Foundation and also Sweet Relief, who benefit musicians in need. This was a marathon of an event, with featured around fifty musicians and performers in an event that went around four hours. Here’s to hoping for more proper tribute shows like this one in the future from the organizers of this event, The Best Fest.
