Gong Hey Fat Choy!
January 23, 2012 is Chinese New Year! So what better way to celebrate than dining on Chinese Food in an amazing Chinese Restaurant? Dynasty Restaurant has a signature menu and is the place to get your Dim Sum on! Gong Hey Fat Choy!
Owners and brothers, Robert and Chang Wu opened their establishment 6 years ago. Originally from Canton, China, the entire familymoved to Modesto 17 years ago. Both brothers are chefs that learned their culinary craft in China culinary schools along with hands-on training with their father in his restaurant in China. Chef Robert is single with one 13 yr. old son he loves to play baseball with. He likes to play a lil’ golf and visit with friends at the Del Rio Country Club. He loves to travel to Hawaii and Hainan, a breathtaking resort island in China. Chef Robert was once an avidvolleyball player and now stays in shape by running a couple days a week. Chef Chang is married with 2 grown children in college.
I asked Chef Robert how he would be spending Chinese New Year, he was happy to say he’d be creating specials for the menu (crab & steamed chicken) and enjoying cooking for all his loyal customers! Robert is not much of a drinker but he said he might sip on a glass of wine to celebrate. Robert says he’ll still be there years from now as his customers are like family to him and this is more than good enough for him. He attributes much of Dynasty’s success to his staff of 15 people that have been working with him for the past 15 years. Robert’s faves are the Crispy Sea Bass and the Prawn Dumplings. Customer faves include Dim Sum, Honey Walnut Prawns and Coconut Pudding. Dynasty also has several vegetarian items on the menu that get rave reviews.
This wasn’t my first trip to the Dynasty Restaurant, but I did venture further into the menu as Robert spoiled me with numerous choices I wouldn’t ordinarily select. From the flavorful jasmine herb tea, to the orange chicken, I polished off a custard bun that was a total Dana~licious mouth surprise! Gong Hey Fat Choy!
Beatles or Stones? Robert said he’s not very familiar with either one, but he enjoys listening to soft music, so I’m thinking one of his loyal customers should bring him a Stones CD and let him rock on that while finding his groove!
