ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

It is Modesto Marathon weekend!  I hope you are as excited as we are.  We will be out there on the course with live reports so make sure you check your Facebook Sunday morning.  But in the meantime, it is so great to have the Modesto Farmer’s Market back so we can get our weekly flowers, asparagus, cheese, cauliflower and more on Thurs and Saturday mornings.

Have you been to Blades and Bottles on 15th St yet? We welcome them to the live music community with their Comedy Thursdays and music Fridays and Saturdays.  Downtown Modesto is once again becoming a destination for live music.

Love Modesto is coming soon.  Have you signed up for one of the nearly 100 projects here in town?   Please go to www.lovemodesto.com and pick a project for you, your family or club and lets make Modesto better.

Get this, guitarist Will Ackerman, the founder of Windham Hill records (you know those George Winston, Shadowfax & Micheal Hedges records) will be playing at the Gallo Center Friday night.  Put this on your calendar.

But here is the best news of all, the new April Earth Day edition of ModestoView will be on the stands and in the mailboxes tomorrow.  It is loaded with great tips for greener living.

March was a blast and April is going to be even more exciting so we hope to see you out and about with some food, drink, and other great local ideas.   Please let me know if there are things that we should be covering or doing to help generate more positivity in our town.  Email me at chrism@modestoview.com

ReadingView: Little Free Libraries

By Middagh Goodwin

The Little Free Library program is an amazing thing, they kind of look like large birdhouses sitting low in front yards around the US. Inspired by the Micro Library Movement in Portland Oregon the first Little Free Library was built in 2009 in Hudson Wisconsin. Read More

OUTSIDE LANDS ANNOUNCES 2019 LINEUP

by Chris Murphy

We are so excited to see the new line up for San Francisco Outside Lands. This is a festival that we have not missed in 10 years and look forward to it each season. Each year, the grounds, the various lands, the variety of the music and the overall 3-day experience in Golden Gate Park is something to look forward to. Besides our regular faves in comedy at the Barbary, the Winelands, Cheeselands and for our ViewCrew team, the restroom in the VIP section. Read More

WalkaMileView

By Chris Murphy

We have no use for spousal abuse. This is something that we all must stand up against and prevent sexual abuse of any kind. We must support those that protect our most vulnerable in our community. The Haven Women’s Center does work that is literally life saving in the most dangerous times. Women need a safe place to get away and feel safe. Read More
