ModestoView Weekly Greeting

Greetings Friends,

We made it through the tropical storm and it was a gorgeous weekend full of fun, music, food, drink and art!  Turned out to be great couple of days for cycling and cruising around.

This week leads us up to more action with the Oakdale Rodeo, that features the Sat am parade and of course some Bloody Marys at the H Bar B.  There are amazing talents on stage this weekend with Neil Simon’s Rumors at the Gallo Center with an amazing set by Brian Swander.

Start the week off right.  Tonight you can catch Shinedown at the Center Plaza as well as an amazing night of jazz and blues at the Blue Monday Jam at the Barkin’ Dog.  This weekend, the Modesto Garden Club will feature the annual garden tour and my band Third Party will be playing in the garden that looks like Yosemite.  Don’t forget that the Modesto Certified Farmer’s Market is open on Thursday and Saturday mornings and there will be a special 40th Anniversary celebration at Saturday’s Market.   So get your spurs on and giddyup to the rodeo or get on your bicycle and explore our city .

Enjoy our community this week and make sure that you tell a friend about all the good things in ModestoView.

Happy trails. – Chris Murphy

SongwriterView: Spurs

By Patty Castillo Davis

In Rodeo, spurs are a tool, dull and proven, with rowels used for prompting persuasion to confront being uncomfortable and encourage moving forward. We can spur our local music community on by putting our support behind venues that propel diverse music choices. Read More

BrewView: Discover the 108

By Brandilyn Brown and Christopher Mitchell

If you’re like us, you are always on the lookout to try new drinks at new places. But being us, who tend to be oblivious at times, you might drive right past a great place many times before stopping in, not aware of any giant orange and yellow sign that might be posted on the building.
