ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

Here we are, a couple of weeks into shelter at home.   As the sun starts to shine, and the itch gets strong to get back to “normal”, we must stay Modesto strong and keep it locked down for the next 14 days.  Now is when it gets tempting and now is when we must be the toughest.  We must still practice distancing, keep sanitized, stay inside or stay home from work if sick and pay attention.  We and California have done a better job than many states so we can do this!   We will be gathering again but let’s not blow it.

In the meantime we are here to help you find ways to make it through this with your sanity intact.   For nourishment, ModestoView is scouring the city for great Grab N Go take out to enjoy great food and support our local hard working restaurants and local restaurants have been featured on Good Day Sacramento.   For your eyes and ears, ModestoView is showcasing live from home “virtual concerts” with MAMA musicians nightly at 6 pm on www.facebook.com/modestoview   Thursdays, our own Victoria Popoff presents free Pilates workouts at 10 am and 4:30 to fit your schedule.  Our Instagram and Facebook is loaded with great local pictures and DIY projects to keep you going.  Yes Modesto, there is something to do even through these times.

If you haven’t taken time to read the April issue of ModestoView, now is a good time.  We take you on a great trip back to 1930s Modesto where so much happened during the depression and the birth of Rockabilly music.  You will really enjoy this.

Let’s keep it going right Modesto.  Let’s support our people in the essential businesses keeping us healthy, safe and our food supply moving. We will make it through this and we will all be together again soon.

Best to you and your families

Grab and Go Modesto!

By ModestoView

This is a really tough time for our local restaurants. We all want to make sure that we are safe and following the guidelines. But we all need to eat, and if we can get our favorite foods from our favorite restaurants, that would be fantastic. And you can. Most of our local restaurants are offering Grab and Go Curbside pick up. You can even get your favorite wine, beer, and cocktails in a to-go drink at-home format. We are trying to keep this list up to date on facebook.com/modestoview so you know where to go. If you can, please order directly from the restaurant and get some fresh air and go pick it up as Doordash and GrubHub, although convenient, take and up to 30% from the restaurant. Let’s support our local food during this time.  www.modestoview.com/grab-and-go-modesto/  Read More

FitView: Strengthen your Immune System

By Efren Martinez

In past Fit Views, I often talked about what we need to do to build our body strength and our speed. Even what helps strengthen our hearts and lungs, but what about our minds? What about our immune system? Just before a couple of weeks ago when our government asked us to keep our gatherings no more than 250 people and before our Governor asked us to shelter in place, my gym suddenly had become very busy. Curious as to why I asked a few of the members if they were new to fitness. Many of them said not really, but it was more of a sense of necessity to workout to become healthier because of the pandemic. Read More
