ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

This is the big week friends.  In the COVID world, we are at peak. This doesn’t mean it’s the 4th quarter, or we won or anything; it means that we have been doing it right. We have been keeping our distances, washing our hands and not going out if we are sick. These next 14 days are really important that we do it right, be cool, do grab n go, get stuff done at home, do homework with your kids and learn a new skill.  To those of you working the front lines in healthcare, food supply, public safety and other essential jobs, THANK YOU. I know it is starting to be cliché, but we are in this together the better we do, the sooner we can start the gather again.     This week we have great Virtually Live Music, 6 pm nightly on @modestoview on Facebook. There are story hours from the library and free Pilates lessons on  Thursday thanks to Victoria Popoff

April 22 makes the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.  Although we are not gathering in the park, we can still do our part and recycle, use reusable bags, and make sure we are using our scarce world resources smartly.  Check out our interview with Modesto’s Vicky Rice below and see what she is doing for City of Modesto recycling.

Did you learn a new skill?  Do you have a new talent?   Do you want to be featured in the May Modestoview?  Tell us about your new tricks and skills and email me at chrism@modestoview.com or post your skills and #modestoviewlearns  and we will check it out.

ModestoView is here for you!   We are helping teach new skills, bring local music to you at home, helping and promoting our local restaurants with Grab n Go and working with our community to make sure be are being safe and keeping our community connected through this.  This is a great way to advertise your business or service and our print magazine will be delivered right on time  to a huge regional audience. It would be great to have your support and there is no better advertising value in the 209.   We connect our community with 100% positive information.

Thank you for reading and being part of making our community better.

Vicki Rice – Recycling is What We Do
By Chris Murphy

The City of Modesto has so many functions. The number one is to make sure that the citizens of Modesto are safe and be a part of the community. From the basic utility billing to the parks and neighborhoods department, the City plays a key role in so many places. Here we are in this, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, and Vicki Rice has been at the helm of the City of Modesto’s Recycling efforts, making sure that Modesto is doing its part. We are faced with global warming, and unpredictable impacts like the COVID-19 and so many outside forces, so we need a solid response from our government and get our citizens into the action too. Songwriter View: Social Pittance

By Patty Castillo Davis

By this time you all know we are in a situation. A GLOBAL situation.
We are not only confronted with one of the greatest health scares in decades, coined a “pandemic” by the World Health Organization, we are also faced with its effect on every aspect of what we’ve deemed normal in life in the interval after this occurred. How we navigate our humanity throughout the duration of the policies put in place to cease the exposure and eventual community transmission will determine if we have conducted ourselves with reason and moral purpose. Did you abide by the suggested guidelines to limit exposure? Read More

With all that is going on in the world right now, with everyone “Sheltered in Place” what does this mean for you? Don’t be a sloth, be a caterpillar. Take this time to reaccess, revamp and hell reinvent what you are doing. Dig out all your merch and put it on sale, give your fans such a deal they can help but buy. Read More
