ModestoView Weekly Greeting

Greetings Friends,

It is almost May!  Like Steve Miller once sang, “Time keeps on slippin slippin slippin, into the future”.

One thing is true friends, that it is pretty impossible to be bored and there are things for all of us to do around here.  County fans rejoice with Ronnie Millsap tonight, and Star Wars fans get their day on Friday.  May the 4th Be With You, and the origin May the Force be With YouYou have become part of the global lexicon. These words, the Star Wars empire were all created by a guy from Modesto.  Think about that, even Disneyland has been consumed by an idea from George Lucas.  We are the “Home of Star Wars” and we invite you to celebrate Friday evening in 10th St Plaza with Stormtroopers, full-size Tie Fighter, Light Saber battles, Royalty parade, Jedi musicians and more.  Be proud Modesto that this is our history and culture.

Our new issue is out and even features an interview with our own Stormtrooper, Wes Page. Enjoy Modesto this week and please make sure you check out our event calendar before you leave your home or office to make sure you don’t miss anything.

– Chris Murphy

Thank you to all that donated to the ModestoView Haven Women’s Center Walk a Mile in Her Shoes team.  Our team came in 2nd place and we tied for 1st for individual fundraiser thanks to you.  If you were not able to contribute to the Walk you can always donate online at Haven Women’s Shelter.
