ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

It’s May!  Wow.  Think about that for a second. It was just New Years minutes ago.  Time flies when you are having fun and that is what’s happening.  May is a month of action and new events and opportunities.

The new May ModestoView is out and it is loaded with things to do from great places to ride your bike, exploring our local and regional parks, celebrating our Moms,  and of course, one of our favorite events of the year, May the 4th Be With You Modesto, where we celebrate our Star Wars heritage.

Yes friends, we are the home of George Lucas and Star Wars so get your Jedi on and come celebrate our special day  Saturday evening in the plaza.  There will be lasers, lightsabers, Jedi Lodge Pole pickers, Stormtroopers and fun for families and fans. Thanks Middagh Goodwin for all the hard work on this.

We kick this month off with the first Music in the Plaza Friday evening that is teamed up with DoMO First Fridays.  Don’t miss Modesto TacoFest on Saturday and Café Shalom at CBS on Sunday.

Please pick up a copy of the new May ModestoView or read it online at www.modestoview.com as there are so many positive things happening in our community you need to know about.    I hope to see you out and about and let’s make this a really great month.

Thanks for reading – Chris Murphy

P.S.   I will be playing a fun acoustic brunch show at Café Deva this Sunday from 10 –noon.  Come enjoy your fave Beatles hits and more while we enjoy some mimosas and crepes. All fees and tips will be donated to the Salvation Army.   Hope you can make it.  .

May the Fourth Be With You

By Middagh Goodwin

Since 1977, “May the Force be With You” has been part of the global lexicon. This phrase, created by Modesto native George Lucas symbolizes the magic and influence of his epic film Star Wars, the follow-up film to his breakthrough American Graffiti. Just say “May the 4th Be With You” out loud and you will hear the pun that so many Star Wars fans worldwide have used to proclaim their love of the saga. Read More
