Greetings Friends!
Whom bom a lu bop a whomp bam boom!
It is Graffiti Summer here in Modesto USA. Even though it is Graffiti Summer all year long here, June is when we really shine, attracting people from around the world to our city, to celebrate our cruising and American Graffiti history. We have such a special history and it is great to have so many people here in town, celebrating with their cars, our music, our food, our history and our people. Modesto is so fortunate to have this cool classic history as it makes us exciting for the future and shows that we really have a cool authentic story, from the “Birth of Rockabilly” to the “ Home of George Lucas & American Graffiti” and so much more.
The car shows this last weekend were amazing and this week, the MidValley Chevy Club has shows every night and on Wednesday, we will induct the 2019 Class of Legends of the Cruise on to our Walk of Fame at 6:30 in 10th St Plaza. Please join us for this fun night. Then this Friday to Sunday, the show that started it all, the North Modesto Kiwanis Car Show and Festival is at Muni Golf Course and on Friday night, we will kick it off with the annual Cruise Parade in downtown Modesto and up McHenry. Don’t forget to join us in 10th St Plaza for the post parade party with MAMA live music and then, Rock this Town with the Stray Cats’ Lee Rocker for your Rockabilly fix. I dare you not to dance. Join thousands of your friends for these amazing events and celebrate the good things in Modesto.
Don’t forget that MoBand Concerts in the Park start on Thursday so get your blanket and picnic ready. We hope to see you out and about and please say hello if you get a chance. – Chris Murphy

George Lucas’ American Graffiti was released in 1973 and since then, Modesto USA has been immortalized in one of the top 100 films of all time. For years, Modesto has been working on a variety of ways to celebrate our classic history, educate the public and draw tourists from around the world. Read More

You can’t create authenticity and you can find loads of it at Fast Eddie’s M.O.A.B., Meal On A Bun. Flat out, this place holds the title of the longest running restaurant in the same location in Modesto, now operating in the same place since 1952. “Fast” Eddie Gibson started there in 1962 as a Roosevelt 8th grader, picking up trash, taking out the garbage and peeling potatoes right in the middle of the classic cruise era. Located on Tully Rd, MOAB saw it’s share of action as a pre and post cruise hangout now for over 67 years. The best part is, that everything tastes the same as it did then, and that’s what keeps people coming back for more, sometimes daily. Read More
