ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

I hope you are having as much fun as we are for Graffiti Summer.  Last week was absolutely crazy with car shows from Sunday through this last weekend.  We celebrated our 2019 Legends of the Cruise with 500 cars, over 1000 cars cruised Friday night at the Cruise Parade and over 1450 cars registered for the N Modesto Kiwanis American Graffiti Festival and Car show and Stray Cat’s Lee Rocker rocked the Gallo Center.  WOW.  If you want to see our amazing photo and video galleries from these events, please go here:   www.facebook.com/modestoview

Graffiti Summer is still in action as we get ready for Frankie Valli and Back to Graffiti at the Fruityard.   Also on our calendar is week #2 of MoBand Concerts in the Park on Thursday evening. Don’t miss these amazing free concerts in Graceada Park.  What was that? Free you ask?  Yes.  You can help keep Concerts in the Park FREE by attending the superfine Night at the Bowl Fundraiser on June  18. You will enjoy tastes from local restaurants, local wineries and breweries.  Tix is only $35 to support MoBand.  Please get tix here: https://squareup.com/store/modesto-band-of-stanislaus-county

So much is happening so please don’t miss anything.  From Pulp Fiction at the State to Music in the Plaza on Friday to PatioFest on Saturday, there are great things going on.  We hope to see you at PatioFest on Saturday evening as there will be 18 bands and musicians on 18 different Patios.   This is a free event, we just want you to enjoy the tastes and treats at our downtown restaurants and bars.  Hope to see you there.  Please say hello as we love meeting our ModestoView friends when we are out and about.  Please make sure you check our calendar at www.modestoview.com before you do anything.

Also very exciting, ModestoView crossed over 30,000 likes on Facebook, and there are over 25,000 #modestoview tags on Instagram.  Thank you for sharing with us and we look forward to sharing you back.   We are proud to be our region’s biggest magazine and social media presence.  We appreciate you.

Thanks all so much for being the people that make the Modesto area better.    –  Chris Murphy @modestochris

GeekView: Graffiti-Con 2 the Electric Boogaloo

By Middagh Goodwin

When you think about it having a pop culture convention that features a classic car show is a no brainer when you live in Modesto; especially when it takes place in June. Growing up I loved the vehicles in movies, tv shows and comics just as much, sometimes more than the main characters. Who didn’t love the Batmobile, Black Beauty or the Enterprise? Even Han Solo has the Millenium Falcon. All integral parts of the storytelling. Read More

Unplugged View: Eine Kleinmann Nachtmusik

by Aaron Rowan

The time has come to conclude a phenomenal second season of live music at Moon & Sixpence Music And Art House. One of very few listening-room venues in Modesto, we’ve seen our share of standing-ovation talent take the stage in this DIY space since opening two years ago. Our finale concert on June 20 will showcase one of my personal favorite instruments, which I don’t get to feature often enough – the flute Read More
