Greetings Friends!
I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend, hung out with friends and family, did some grilling’ and other fun things. Nice to take a break when possible right? Well we are back at it and September is on the loose. For those of you working a short week, you can’t wait to start planning for a very busy weekend and this weekend is a doozie!
We have an amazing line up this weekend, from live band karaoke, where you are the lead singer at Ralston’s Goat on Thursday. On Friday, a rare performance by Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, fresh back from a sold our European tour, with Virgil Shaw for Music in the Plaza, teaming up with DoMo’s First Friday Market on 10th St will surely be a special time you won’t want to miss. Don’t miss out on high-school football and look for our photographer MJ Mangano so you can be in The View! The Beatles are coming on Saturday with the annual Picnic at the Pops featuring the Classical Mystery Tour where you will hear Beatles hits like never before. Amazing. For those of you that are counting, I will be at my Beyer High Class of 1979 reunion at the Skewers this weekend and am looking forward to seeing old classmates. Time to get my Van Halen, Tubes and ELO records out.
The new September Modestoview is out and on the stands. You know I love Modesto history and I need your help so that we can get and keep our next generations interested in our history. Cities that celebrate their history have more civic pride since we know our stories, our founders, our hometown heroes and what we are made of. People want to know how cool and authentic their cities are, and Modesto is loaded with it from Rockabilly to American Graffiti to World Class Gallo wine, farm fresh food, to Mid-century architecture and so much more. We need more docents at the McHenry Mansion and the Museum and other new projects in the works. Get excited about history by reading the new ModestoView magazine now at www.modestoview.com/the-magazine
Enjoy our community this week and make sure you check out our amazing event calendar at www.modestoview.com. Hope to see you out and about and dig your days in Modesto USA, A Classic American City. –Chris Murphy
PS Friends, I know you always get hit up for donations, but I and our ModestoView and Sierra Pacific team are Walking for Heart. After my heart issues 2 years ago, I am more heart aware and want to do my part for research and prevention. Our team will be walking on September 14 and hope you can lend a hand and contribute to our walk. Anything will help. www2.heart.org/goto/chris_murphy

By Chris Murphy
Greetings Friends,
Happy August! What? It’s September? How did that happen?
Well, the good news is that when time is going as fast as it is, that means that there is so much going on that the time-space continuum that we call Modesto USA is rockin’ and rollin’. The even better part is that I talk to a lot of people who also feel that way, maybe because they are planning and creating events that make our city come alive and be special. Read More
