ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

You know what today is?
It’s the day before the Downtown Sampler.  Make your plans to be in Downtown Modesto tomorrow (Tuesday) evening and enjoy the tastes of over 30 of our locally owned and independent restaurants, music from 10 of our Modesto Area Music Bands, strolling musicians and even a shuttle bus to make sampling easier.  It’s only $20 and you get to experience a huge variety of treats.  We will be there and hope to see you there.
Check www.modestosampler.com to see the map of Sampler #18 restaurants and list of bands.  Today is also the first day of Rocktober.  This month is the perfect blend of harvest, haunts and Modesto Area Music, hence Rocktober.

Our new issue celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein and showcasing all things harvest and haunted is out on the stands and online now. We also celebrate local musician and the non-profit CASA director Steve Ashman, who will be honored for a Lifetime Award at the MAMA Awards October 16 at the State Theatre.  We are lucky to have musical talent that gives back to our community.

Take time to read our amazing new issue, 32 full color pages of Modesto area goodness and positive info.  The ViewCrew works hard so fulfill our mission of “Serving Civic Pride Daily” and we hope you like it.   These are the things that make Modesto, Modesto USA, A Classic American City.  Thank you for reading and share this with a friend.

Hope to see you out and about.  – Chris Murphy

The BigView

By Chris Murphy & Middagh Goodwin

Tis the season of haunts, harvests and hallow. There is something magical about this time of year, when the cool breezes blow through the trees and the leaves begin to fall into Autumn. Tree branches come to lift as skinny arms and fingers as the evenings begin to darken and the mornings are darker. The mist just seems to blow across the lawns and parks and there might be eerie sounds to make the day more interesting. Read More

GreetingsView: It’s Rocktober

By Chris Murphy

I remember when I first heard the word Rockober on the old KSAN San Francisco many years ago and I thought it was the coolest! It sums up the month perfectly. October is truly the best blend of fall, music, haunted treats, dark mornings and darker evenings with a nice fall chill that really gets you in the mood for anything. It is especially relevant here in Modesto USA as we are smack dab in the middle of harvest, the MAMA Awards bring the best of Modesto area rock to the forefront and we are getting our haunted groove on.
