ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

Rocktober is in full gear as we ramp up the pinnacle of Modesto area music as we get ready for the 19th Annual Modesto Area Music Awards on October 16 at the fabulous historic State Theatre.  This is a remarkable night where musicians and bands of all genres, event promoters and venue operators all get together to celebrate excellence in our community.  The MAMAs began in 2000, and today we have more talent and even better music.  Live music is key to a vibrant community and diversity.  We are all working to make sure there are more ways to showcase our live music talent and need to make sure our city and county encourage live music participation. Please take a second and check out the incredible nominees and place your vote for the 2018 MAMAnees at www.modestoareamusic.com/vote

A very special thank you to Middagh Goodwin, who is our MAMA Association director who has been tirelessly working on this year’s awards.  We are now a 501 (c)3 and will have some extraordinary ways for our community to get involved in the local live music scene.   Thanks, Middagh!!

But tonight, don’t miss the insane musical talent tonight at the Barking Dog for Blue Monday Jam.  This is a longstanding Modesto tradition featuring some of the best musicians anywhere, and even Grammy award winners.  Tonight is a benefit for Raul Slaps who had his trombone stolen.   It will be a great event.    There are so many things going on this week; you need to check out our daily calendar to see how much there is to do in the Greater Modesto Area.  It’s quite amazing.

Thanks for being regular ModestoView readers and please feel free to let me know what you like and what you don’t so we can make it better.  There will be some cool changes coming soon you will love.

Have a great Modesto week!   – Chris Murphy  chrism@modestoview.com

MAMA Preview

In 2000, Chris Ricci and I wanted to showcase the amazing musical talent we have here in our area. 19 years later, we are still celebrating musical talent, and the talent keeps getting better. Music, and in particular live music, is so very important to a community. Cities and towns with a live music culture draw more creative people in.  Read More Vote
