ModestoView News Letter

Greetings friends!

Are you feeling the November groove yet?  I know it is going a million miles an hour and ModestoView is here to make sure you are always in the groove with the groovy things happening around town.  Speaking of “groove” and especially the vinyl groove, our own Middagh Goodwin will be spinning his fave records at LoFi on Friday evening so you should check it out.  He does love his SKA and punk so it should be fun.

There are a couple of things you really need to do this week and Saturday is a doozy.  1st, there is a new athletic event, the 0.0K Millennial Mile (aka day pub walk) Benefit for Cancer at 11 am.  See below to register for this “rigorous” activity and please plan on joining the ViewCrew at this fun-raiser.  2nd,  Our friend and Lifetime MAMA Winner Steve Ashman is bringing the legendary ZaSu Pitts Memorial Orchestra to the State on Saturday evening and including some of our local hot rod guitarists like Gary Nelson and Joe Barretta.  This will be a great party. 3rd,  at the Gallo Center will be Just Imagine, a great tribute performance John Lennon with Tim Piper, one of the best John Lennon’s out there. It will be amazing.  So many choices.

Such are the decisions you have to make when you live in the greater Modesto USA area where there are so many things to do, great events, places to eat and drink and ways to get involved.    Mark your calendar for opening day of Modesto on ice November 23, ModShip on November 30 and City of Modesto Candyland Holiday Parade and Rockin’ Tree lighting for Rockin Holiday on December 7.  It is coming at you so fast, you better get ready.

Our November issue is out and if you haven’t read it yet, you can find it here and read it online or on your handy mobile device.  www.modestoview.com/the-magazine

Thanks for reading and sharing the ModestoView goodness and I hope to see you out and about.

Greetings friends,
Fall is invigorating. It is colorful, it feels fresh, and it tastes wonderful. I don’t know why, but everything feels fresher when the mornings are chilly, the breezes roll through and as I write this, I have a sweater on as the winds passed through the patio. The 20th Anniversary of the MAMA Awards was a really fun success, our best ever as we made it a street party with our friends at the State Theatre. Read More

Together as partners in business, (and in love), they have created a locally successful company called Aberrant Films.  Read More

ZeroK

By Chris Murphy

Here’s the joke: Q. How do you know if a person is a runner? A. They will tell you.

This new run is a total athletic achievement, all in the name of preventing and curing cancer. This is an epic Zero K, not to be confused with 13.1 or 26.2 m or 5 or 10K, this is a Zero K, with multiple cocktail stops. This even requires no training or fitness, other than the ability to raise some money. Read More
