Greetings Modesto Friends,
Isn’t it so cool that the entire world is talking about something that was created by a person from ModestoUSA? From the north pole to the south, Star Wars is everywhere, dominating the Disney parks, pop culture and heck, the entire galaxy. Even the galaxy next to us is talking about it. Read further in this issue to learn the new 12 Days of Star Wars Christmas we created.
Using the Force for a Rockin’ Holiday where Princess Leia skates to the Star Wars theme with Rockin’ Santa on Ice in our own local galaxy makes Modesto one of the best places to be this holiday season. Sure, you can go stand in lines with hours of traffic to ice skate in SF this season, but instead, you can explore downtown Modesto, enjoy fabulous food and drink, catch some falling snow with Rockin’ Santa, catch a great movie about the Modesto of Tattooine and skate into the dark of night and hyperspeed your way home, well ahead of your friends that are still stuck on the Bay Bridge. Yes friends, we have one awesome month on our hands, and we even have 34” of snow in the mountains at the nearby ski areas. Are you as excited as I am for this holiday season?
Friends, ModestoView has always taken the lead in what we need to help make Modesto better. We have been championing the need for 10th St to be a beautiful promenade from the Doubletree to the Gallo Center and created the Modesto Historic Cruise Route with a tourist walking tour. We helped create the very first parklets that have now lead to the remodeling of 10th St to attract new business and create better foot traffic. Last year ModestoView with Sierra Pacific and Collins Electric reimagined the world of our retro Christmas holidays and presented Rockin’ Christmas. That was so fun that Jerome and Andrea Murray created Modesto On Ice to be in downtown Modesto as new businesses are popping up on 10th and 11th St. We now have some momentum. This year we make a new mark creating a new 50 foot tall Rockin’ Tree that we will light up on December 5. We are creating a gathering place, home for music, art, fun, families and visitors from around the world. Yes, friends, we can all make a difference and that is what makes me so proud of ModestoView and our ViewCrew supporters, we can all work together the be the change we want for our city. We ask you to join us, come downtown and celebrate with us. Change your habits, stroll our streets that have new lights and decorations and most importantly, tell a friend and spread the word. Stop and thank our ViewCrew writers, as they do this for their passion for a better Modesto.
We are the solution. We are all the ones that change forever how and what people think about Modesto. We need to encourage people that don’t get involved to do so. So let’s explore, let’s shop local, let’s walk our streets, let’s ride our bike trails and let’s work together to really do something that changes our city forever. We can do it.
Thanks to each and everyone of you that pick up this magazine, log on to ModestoView.com, hashtag your Instagrams #modestoview as we are creating a new buzz and our readers are clearly the best people in our region. Thanks for patronizing the businesses that advertise in ModestoView as they make it possible for us to spread the good word and fulfill our mission to “Serve Civic Pride Daily”. Who knows, maybe your kids or friends will move back home and make a career here like my kids have done. Wouldn’t that be a great holiday wish?
Thank you all for being a part of this and contributing. We can way to see what we all can do together next year and I, on behalf of all of our ViewCrew wish you and yours the happiest of holidays and a Happy New Year.
Best to you all,
Chris Murphy
