Greetings Modesto Friends

Greetings Modesto Friends: By Chris Murphy

We live life on a rollercoaster. Just as soon as we reach the summit and put our hands up in the air and race down, we start to hear the clicks of the uphill as the next climb starts. This summer has just blown by, so that is why we are celebrating a “summer fling” on our cover. Since we are dedicated to finding the best things happening in town and the best places to eat and the best businesses to support, you have come to the right place to get the most from your last summer days.

The ModestoViewCrew is here to celebrate every last second of a Modesto USA summer before the kids go back or away to school. We feature a special interview with Pam Able, Modesto City Schools Superintendent and she has some great ideas on how to get the most out of education.

Just like a rollercoaster, we are transitioning from the loop the loop to the curves as we hit August. We are so very proud to introduce a new talented young writer, Leia Johnson. This spark plug of a young lady is loaded with great ideas, she is super organized and is a fabulous daughter and dedicated Girl Scout. Scouting does grow strong girls and my own daughters are richer for their scouting experience We welcome Leia and can’t wait to see her Modesto view. You will see a celebration of Teen Modesto in our center spread.

We just came back from a trip through Europe and it was great being able tell people from many different countries that we were from the city from American Graffiti and where George Lucas is from. Nice huh? There was even a Happy Days Diner in Paris that had a statue of the carhop from the American Graffiti soundtrack and our June cover. Think about this for a second, we can do so much more to make our city appealing and interesting to visitors and our own residents alike, all by just bringing our own history to life. It is really pretty simple and it is all there, ready for us to do something with it. We do live in an interesting place. Best of all, my daughters grew up, really enjoying this city. It is up to each and every one of us to make sure we pass this on. They are proud of where they are from when they meet new friends in college or in their careers.

This month marks the month when Becky and I become empty nesters, Abbey at Berkeley, Madison living and working in San Francisco and we get ready to open our own new chapter here in Modesto. We are very excited to share this with you, our wonderful readers, contributors and our dynamite advertisers. That is why ModestoView exists; to Serve Civic Pride Daily and showcase the good things in town to our friends, our kids and the new arrivals in Modesto.

We thank and welcome all of you. ModestoView is for you.

ModestoView would not be possible without the generous support of Sierra Pacific Warehouse Group. We are a family owned warehousing and logistics company, serving some of the best companies in the USA. We are responsible community citizens, supporting arts and community programs in Modesto that make our city stronger. We recently had the honor of showcasing our company to Sen. Galgiani and Rep Adam Gray and their teams to review the importance of our ag-based economy and the role that logistics has to help the Modesto area feed the world and ship our products globally.

On the Cover The amazing Michael J Mangano once again creates the most amazing summer image. Alicia Maria Greer, Carley Thompson, and Kimberlee Dickens relax in the clear blue water, strumming their Ukuleles and enjoying every second of summer with fun and refreshment. Thanks MJ for your endless creativity and vision. If you need an amazing photographer, please contact him. www.facebook.com/mjmangano
