With New Year’s just hours behind us, some of the best moments have just made their goodbyes. New Year’s 2024 has yet to be more than an idea. To Ms. M, something so small as the idea can blossom into a simple start that allows one to reflect on the past, and focus on the future of what will come. The tradition of starting the New Year on the right foot is centuries old but long-lasting. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as making your budget stretch into lasting fun. Here’s some way to save in the New Year.
Poetry nourishes the soul. On January 9th, Most Poetry Center is hosting their Second Tuesday reading on Zoom. The event features Luke Johnson, author of Quiver, and also features poet Mariah Bosch, a Fresno State MFA graduate., with host Stella Beratlis The event will include a reading from featured poets, followed by an open mic. Focusing on your health is one way of making a change. Exercise is a healthy way to benefit your health but it still can be fun. Join in the party at Elevate Yoga’s Cardio Dance Party of January 13th. Taught by dance instructors who have more than a decade of experience, the one-hour nonstop dancing class has a fun mix of moves from a variety of dance styles such as Reggaeton, Salsa, Hip-Hop, Zumba, and Bollywood. Stop into The State Theatre and try a movie day that will present you with a taste of change. Titanic will be presented on January 21st by the Modesto Film Society. They will host a themed event, encouraging attendees to dress in historic 1912 attire and take a photo with other 1st class passengers at the showing of the film. The Gallo Center invites you to experience. DINO-LIGHT, formerly known as Darwin the Dinosaur on January 30th. This unique glow-in-the-dark storytelling experience was the recipient of the prestigious Jim Henson Foundation Grant. The story features a famous scientist with magic powers that brings a friendly dinosaur to life. All Ages will love this unique adventure. Show 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $15-35.
