By Russ Allsup
The fourth annual IES : the Indie Entertainment Summit is coming up fast and looks to be one of the biggest events in the entertainment industry. The summit, founded by 40+ year industry veteran CEO Jay Warinske, covers all aspects of the entertainment field and is coming to be known as the most comprehensive event of its kind, covering music, film, television, and most everything having to do with entertainment and media in general. Participants are encouraged to bring anything that relates to their involvement and / or pursuits in the entertainment field including their business cards, scripts, CD’s, DVD’s and anything they feel they might want to forward to someone in the industry.
This event will be a great opportunity for anyone wanting to make contacts and get their product to someone who might be able to help advance your career. The summit will take place over four days (Aug. 5-8) in a dozen venues around North Hollywood. The four days will consist of industry leaders on panels and keynotes of top CEOs from the entertainment field and will cover an array of topics on all the vital areas of today’s media and entertainment world.
Also featured will be performances from over 100 top bands and DJ’s. Wed., August 5th will feature the IES Rock Honors ceremony and concert, and this years lineup is like a music hall of fame in itself. The list of musicians scheduled to be honored this year is an amazing list of icons: Lemmy & Motorhead, Slash of Guns ‘n Roses fame, The Ramones, Joan Jett & Cheri Currie from the Runaways, Stray Cats, & special tributes by members of Metallica, the Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, and more. Also happening at this year’s Urban Honors will be special induction of Dr, Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren for the N.W.A movie ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and a tribute to Uptown Records (home of Mary J.
