International Heritage Festival set for October 5 It’s the ultimate trip around the world
(Modesto, CA) – Get ready for the ultimate trip around the world at the 22nd Annual International Heritage Festival. This year’s voyage takes place October 5 at a new location – Modesto Junior College (MJC) East Campus, 435 College Ave. in Modesto. The International Heritage Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event showcases the kaleidoscope of heritages from the local area and celebrates a shared American heritage.
A patriotic “Americana Opening” at 11 a.m. kicks off the Festival and includes a colorful parade of flags with participants in beautiful international dress.
During the International Festival, “passengers” travel around the world through music, dance, food, and children’s crafts. Children can visit country displays, collect stamps and stickers, and have fun learning about geography, history, music, and art.
Also attending the festival will be the Silver Star Queen and her court of princesses from Modesto’s sister city in Vernon, Canada. These young ladies travel as ambassadors of Vernon, British Columbia.
The all-volunteer, non-profit International Festival Committee organizes the event. It is made possible through generous sponsorships and participation of local businesses, organizations and individuals.
