Jazz Blues View: Here Comes the Sun

Jazz-Blues View: Here comes the Sun Little Dolly
Eric Benson

Well folks this is the new norm with things opening and improving! The promise of spring gives me optimism for brighter days ahead, “the smile’s returning to there faces…here comes the sun, here comes the sun.” This song played in hospitals when someone with a Covid infection has survived and able to go home. We now have 50,000 positive cases with a low mortality rate so now is the time to get your vaccination! Do this for yourself, do this to protect others, and do it so there is not a reservoir for the infection that the virus can turn into a new strain. 2020 we were supposed to wear masks, 2021 we are still wearing masks because we did not do the right thing the first time around. Much love for you out there that are doing the right thing wearing masks and social distancing. In the meantime, keep going and stay healthy and keep things rolling!

There are a lot of us struggling right now, emotionally, physically, and spiritually so please reach out and lend a hand to those who need it. We also need to support our local business and economy, so it is still there as things improve. Next month we will conspire to get people out to our local businesses, restaurants to keep them healthy. If we have no venues when things get better you will see me out on south 9th street busking with my guitar singing the Blues. So please continue to support our local venues.

My friend Dylan Soto drummer for many bands in the area is doing a Fundraiser for his long time childhood friend Quincy. She has recently developed Leukemia and is in the hospital for treatment. We will be doing an event outside at Café Urbano Sunday, March 14th from 3 to 7 pm to raise funds for her. We encourage all to come and support live music and Quincey, she also has a GoFundMe page for those who want to help.

Blue Monday Party out of Lockdown at Café Urbano Monday, March 8th with special guest Barry Finnerty guitarist form Miles Davis Band and many others. Also in March, the Chris Cain Band returns Sunday, March 21st for a 4 PM show outside. Urbano also has DJ events Salsa, cumbia on Taco Tuesdays, also Thursday through Sunday for DJ Latin dancing with great food and a full bar.
