Jazz-BluesView: Back in Business

Jazz BluesView: Back to Business
By Eric Benson

Well now is the time to get back to living our lives and getting on with our bad selves! I walked into a store wearing a mask and the grocer said you don’t have to wear a mask! I retorted yes they make it hard to breathe, itches your moustache, hard to read facial expressions and taking it off said: “and it hides my beautiful face!” Yes, a little levity is in order after surviving a friggin global pandemic! I think we should hire a comedian just to get us all back in the groove. I think it is too soon to sing “Happy Days are Here Again” but I am optimistic that things “are getting better all the time, can’t get worse.” Music and arts are in-store and people are hungry for getting back to being together, I have had more hugs in the last month than the whole last year!

We are trying to do more live events outside with social distancing to keep people safer and inside shows with smaller capacity at Ralston’s Goat, Downtown Bauer’s and Café Urbano. The monthly Blues Crawl returns Sunday, July 25th with Eric Benson and Big Earl Mathews promoting this event. The headliner for June is The Chris Cain Band at Café Urbano with an all-star band. outside show: 25 dollar cover charge. RSVP: (209) 918-7033, Eric Benson. The other venues are Ralston’s Goat & Downtown Bauer’s with bands to be announced. All are outside venues within walking distance in downtown Modesto with food and beverage available all age venues! Can’t stop the Blues!

Café Urbano continues with live music: Sunday shows, and Blue Monday Party with Jam session July 12th. The Blue Monday Band features John Adey & Conrad Johnson Bass, Dave Hawks Drums, Andrew Rosenblum Sax, Kevin Marin Trumpet, John Burt Sax and Dave Dow & Eric Benson keys playing Jazz, Funk, R & B, Latin and the Blues.   Urbanos also has DJ events Salsa, cumbia on Taco Tuesdays, also Thursday through Sunday for DJ Latin dancing with great food and a full bar so come on down.

Well, folks, thanks to all you good people doing the right thing, wearing masks, social distancing and getting that Soul Vaccination things are continuing to improve.  We also need to support our local business and economy, so they continue to stay healthy also, so please continue to support our local venues.

Peace out, Eric Benson! Need to get me or co-conspire with me, (209) 918-7033 And be like Alpha Beta and tell a friend.
