And the summer goes on, were havin’ a heat wave a tropical heat wave, good for tomatoes but not so good for the rest of us. Plenty to be thankful for, gainful employment, meaningful work, family and friends and yes AC! Plenty going on in the area with music and the arts, go out and catch some of it!.

Blue Monday Party & Invitational Jam returns to the Barkin’ Dog Grill this July 11th with special Rod Harris monster jazz saxophonist and teacher from Columbia with 7-piece house Band Ultra Lounge hosting. The Blue Monday Band features: lead vocalist, guitar and bass player Dave Sousa, Johnny Valdes guitar, Tim Allen bass, vocals, Dave Hawks on drums, Eric Benson& Pat Governor keys, & horn section Andrew Rosenblum Sax, trumpet, and Jamie Dubberly trombone. The band plays Jazz, R & B, Funk, Latin, Rock, and a little of everything else with special guests sitting in for listening and dancing. Show from 7 to 10:00 PM with food and drink available in an all age venue. Call the Dog for reservations: 572-2341. And everyone’s favorite promoter back out of retirement, John Griswold returns to the scene with a new venue for the music, at Lucca Winery in Ripon. He brought in East Bay Soul with Greg Adams to a good crowd. This time July 9th Garrett Wilkins the the Parrotheads, (a stellar Jimmy Buffet tribute band). Come back out for third Thursday Art Walk 5 to 9:00 PM for some great art, and music in the downtown!

Lowdown on the jam session in the downtown: Barkin’ Dog Thursday night jazz jams with Dave Dow and Tony Wescott, Queen Bean Sundays open mike night also in an all age environment. And Art Walk third Thursday continues and is better than ever with new venues in the downtown. Ralston’s Goat is a new venue with music and yes comedy venue with good crowds, check them out for the schedule.
