Jazz BluesView: Sunshine Don’t Take My Blues Away
By Eric Benson

I heard a rumors things will be opening on June 15th, I think the cat is out of the bag already. The smile are returning to our faces and here comes the sun…It’s all right!

Our numbers are down for the virus and more people are doing the right thing, getting their Soul Vaccination across the nation! Well, folks let us get back to the business of living and getting on with our lives. This is the time to reach out and take care of each other because 2020 was a tough year: extreme heat, California on fire, Covid. I was getting ready for a tsunami and space aliens and the foretold final days but I think we dodged the bullet this time around.

We are trying to do more live events outside with social distancing to keep people safer and inside shows with smaller capacity at different venues. The monthly Blues Crawl returns Sunday, June 27th with Eric Benson and Big Earl Mathews promoting this event. Headliner for June is The Ray Charles Project at Café Urbano with all-star band: Dave Mathews & Tony Lindsey /Santana, DeWayne Pate / Robin Ford, the mightly Chris Cain on guitar and vocals, Glen Walters vocals and Dezson Clayborn on Drums. This band plays the music of Ray Charles on steroids, outside show: 25 dollar cover charge. RSVP: (209) 918-7033, Eric Benson. The other venues are Ralston’s Goat will once again have the High Street Blues Band & Downtown Bauer’s TBA All are outside venues within walking distance downtown Modesto with food and beverage available at all age venues!

Café Urbano continues with live music: Sunday shows, and Blue Monday Party with Jam sessions 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. The Blue Monday Band features John Adey & Conrad Johnson Bass, Dave Hawks Drums, Andrew Rosenblum Sax, Kevin Marin Trumpet, John Burt Sax and Dave Dow & Eric Benson keys playing Jazz, Funk, R & B, Latin and the Blues. Urbano’s also host DJ events salsa, cumbia on Taco Tuesdays, also Thursday through Sunday for DJ Latin dancing with great food and full bar so come on down.

Well, folks thanks for all you good people doing the right thing, wearing masks, social distancing and getting that Soul Vaccination things will continue to improve. We also need to support our local business and economy, so they continue to stay healthy, please continue to support our local venues.

Peace out, Eric Benson! Need to get me or co-conspire with me, (209) 918-7033 And be like Alpha Beta and tell a friend.
