If you love Jazz your going to love this. By Eric Benson
Fall in the air, the kids are back in school and some of our children have left the nest and flown the coup. Seeing my daughter off to college unpacking all her worldly possessions, 4 boxes, into her little cubicle she will share with 2 coeds has brought it home. She’s leaving home. And with the changing of the seasons some musicians that are busy in summer with festivals and touring now have dates open. I happened upon a contact that hooked me up with Eddie Duran, now 87 and still playing some of the best straight ahead Jazz guitar you will ever hear. Eddie is one of the fathers of west coast jazz and has played with Vince Guaraldi, Cal Tjader, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, Red Norvo, and many others. He will come down for Blue Monday Blues and Jazz jam on Monday Oct 6th. Eddie stylistically can play chord melody as well as effortless fluid jazz lines and is one of the nicest cats in the business. His wife Madeline Duran will accompany him on Sax with house band.
