Hello, I am glad to be back for the September playlist. This list is all local and you most likely can see any one of these bands right here in Modesto and these are some songs that you have to log on and get right this second. I am going to kick off this month’s list with an old favorite of mine…
UVR- “California Sunshine” – (Pop- Punk- Rock)
The first time I saw these guys was the end of my freshman year at Modesto High School. They played the end of the school year bash. I was already in love with their song “Got 2 Girlfriends” but seeing them live… wow, talk about a school girl crush! I am so excited to say that they will be playing Sept 2nd at the Copper Rhino! myspace.com/uvr
Soda – “Old Riley” – (Avantgarde-Country- Rock)
Although I have heard of the name several times I was recently turned on to his music by my neighbor and musician Roy Dean and I am so grateful!! I have been listening non stop. Very powerful and interesting stuff! Can’t wait to see him on my b-day Oct 7th at Copper Rhino! Hope to see you there! reverbnation.com/sodagardocki
B Side Saints – “Sucker” – (Reggae-Rock)
New band but the members are no strangers to the Modesto scene, you might recognize some of these guys from scene favorite Washed Up. I will admit that I was really sad to see that band break up but allthose feelings left the moment B Side Saints hit my ears! If you switched a Sublime song on a juke box in a bar somewhere and put in this song no body would care! reverbnation.com/bsidesaints
Sandra Deloras – “Born Good” – (Acoustic- Pop)
The look, the AMAZING voice, the personality… she is a must see act. Listening to her recorded stuff is great but her live show is simply stunning! Do yourself afavor and treat your ears to her music! myspace.com/sandradolores
Dandelion Massacre – “DMT” – ( Americana- Punk)
Fresh back from tour these guys are definitely one of my Modesto favorites! Very unique! The genre I listed explains it perfectly, their music is very Americana mixed in with punk vocal styling. They are a great live show so keep your eyes peeled for their next performance!
Thank you for reading my article and thank you to Chris Murphy with the Modesto View for allowing me to be a part of this again. I hope you enjoy the music and please don’t be a stranger, stop by Friday nights at the Copper Rhino for my weekly show “The Weekly Issue.” (facebook.com/theweeklyissue)
Correction from last month, I listed this band as Irie and the song “Tide Reef” but it is actually the band “Irie” song “Tide Reef”.
As far as my Sept dates for the Weekly Issue at Copper Rhino, they go like this
Sept 2 – UVR/ Disturbing the Peace/ Nottus Music/ Birdhands
Sept 9 – Irie Tide/ City Psychology/ TBA
Sept 16 Pendletons
Sept 23 Better Left Unsaid
Sept 30 Reggae
