KidsView Winter Break Fun Cookie Decorating Kits
In the “Winter Fun” series, we will introduce you to some seriously awesome things to do with your kiddos over winter break. Seasonal things (or in the warm indoors!) to keep your littles entertained for 3 whole weeks.
One of our favorite things to do at home is decorating cookies. If your kids are older, you can certainly bake cookies fresh from scratch, but in my house, it’s just easier to buy a kit and go from there! Purchase everything you need to decorate cookies in kits from Mocha Magic (Downtown Modesto), Bakeshop (Downtown Modesto), Village Baking (McHenry Village), or if you’re in Turlock, from Old Tyme Pastries. They are not available year-round from every baker, so you need to stalk their Facebook pages to see when they are offered or call to special order one. They usually have them for Valentine’s, Mother’s Day & Christmas, but each baker makes them other times throughout the year, too! Mocha Magic does themed ones almost weekly such as ABCs, dinosaurs, flowers, etc. Each cookie kit will be themed and will come with everything you need, icing and sprinkles, too! Turn it into a fun afternoon of learning about colors, textures, culture, fine motor skills, and the best part: it’s all edible! Yum! Messes you can eat are the BEST!
