May the Force be with you. Spring is in the air, and so is the sound of Music. Music in the Plaza is in full swing with MF Silverado kicking things off on April 28th to an incredible crowd. May 5th have the Poorhouse Millionaires kicking things off along with DoMo’s First Friday Market. Come out and enjoy the music while you shop for some unique items and fresh produce in the 10th Street Plaza. Every Friday until the end of September Music will be flowing out of the Plaza. Catch Rob Hill Band on the 12th, A La Lune on the 19th and Lodge Pole Pickers ending the month out on the 26th.

We have a special May the Fourth Celebration added to the mix in the Plaza with Music, Light Saber Battles, Storm Troopers and Rebels. Plans are for this to become an annual event. Dress up as your favorite characters and join in the fun. There will also be a special screening of Spaceballs at the Brenden Theater.

We are hoping to add a Music Video category to the Modesto Area Music Awards so make sure you share what you have with us on Facebook. Keep sending in your gigs to events@modestoview.com<mailto:events@modestoview.com>, so we can add them to the View Calendar and share them on our pages. We want to keep up with all who is playing and where.

FM Concerts and Beyond the Limits has their first in what is looking to be a series of Concerts Relax on the Range May 7th at River Oaks Golf Course. June 3rd is the next one scheduled; I know I am looking forward to seeing how these events take shape. It is great to see these promoters working outside the box to create great entertainment opportunities.

Make sure you stop by the Center Stage when you go out to the Stanislaus County Fair July 14th -23rd and catch several local artists performing as part of Modesto Area Music Associations wider vision for the future. Our goal is to team up or be a resource to help get more opportunities for our area entertainers.

Please continue to support the venues(we need more) who give performers an outlet to entertain us. Support the bands not just by attending their shows but also by buying their merchandise and liking/following them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Bring a friend or family member the next time you go out and introduce them to one or more of your favorite local artists. Let us all actively grow our music and arts scene to bigger and better heights.
