MAMAView: Rebirth

It is a brand new year and what kind of resolutions as musicians, have you made? Are you going to play out more, record a new album or release a video for a new single? It is important to make plans and follow through to develop not just as an artist but your fanbase. Even mixing up the setlist you have been using for years, add a fun or unique cover or even better some new originals or old favorites that you have not played in a while. Get some new promo pictures or for some of you get some promo pictures taken. Work on your press kit and start using it. Winter is a slow time of year for gigging so why not get prepared for the Spring and Summer so you can start booking those festivals and outdoor concert dates. It is also a perfect time to work on new merch for all those shows you will hopefully be playing. Remember to email events@modestoview.com so we can add them all to our calendar.

Speaking of gigs did you know that one of the missions of the Modesto Area Music Association is booking several events each year? We curate Music in the Plaza, PatioFest, The Sampler, the Center Stage at the Stanislaus County Fair and Third Thursday Artwalk. We also act as a resource to help connect local performers with paying gigs at restaurants, cafes and other events. We fill that it is very important especially know when there is a lack of traditional venues in Modesto. Email mamarecords209@gmail.com to be considered for any of these events.

Have you been listening to KCBP 95.5 FM? It is our very own community radio station and several local artists already have their music played in regular rotation. Along with that every Monday night at 5 pm, you can hear me on air with Modesto Area Music playing songs from the 209. You can expect to hear a little music history and a lot of local music. The show has encore airings Friday at 9 pm and Saturday at 6 pm. Expect to hear Chris Murphy on the air in the near future. If you want to be considered for my show email mamarecords209@gmail.com.

Now for everyone else listen to KCBP, go to local shows and support all the venues, the restaurants, bars, and cafes that support live music and tell your friends to do the same.
