MAMAView: Thanks and Gratitude

MAMAView: Thanks and Gratitude
By Middagh Goodwin

First, congratulations to all the MAMAnees for the 2024 Modesto Area Music Awards, and big up to all the winners. I have said it before, and I will repeat it: The music fans in 209 are all the real winners. Thanks to everyone involved in making the event happen: The State Theatre, the Sierra Pacific Warehouse crew, Soul-fi Production for helping with sound and stage managing, all the bands that played, the presenters, Beeler Industries for the Trophies and of course VMI for the backline. Shout out to Elliot Gage, our IT and website guru, and to Carlos at Central Valley TV for broadcasting to the world.

Keep on the radar for next year by sending your gigs to events@modestoview.com. As a little bonus, we will add the local shows to our calendar. I commend Western Bound, Tea Noelle, Gotcha Covered, and Dying Breed Brewing. All four have up-to-date websites with show and booking information. You do not need a website; social media is a good tool if you use it to create those events and let people know where you are and where you have played.

December is right around the corner, and people will be looking to buy unique gifts for their friends and families. Artists of all types, let us know what you have for sale, post, and tag @modestoview so we can share. Buying a CD, Ticket to a show, T-shirt, button, patch from a band, or a painting or print from an artist goes a long way in showing your support and helping them keep doing what they love to do. Be a supporter of the arts by supporting the artists directly.
Rockin’ Holidays have been booked(only 7 days this year), and we will be working on booking Music in the Plaza at the end of January. If you are interested in performing, touch base with us then at mamarecords209@gmail.com.

Do you have original radio-ready music? Did you know Modesto has its own Community Radio Station, KCBP 95.5 FM? Did you know that they play local artists and that there is a weekly radio show, MAMA Radio, which showcases 209 artists and helps promote your local gigs? Well, you do now. Email your radio-edited tracks to mamarecords209@gmail.com for consideration.

Support the local establishments that support local art and music. Buy a drink, have a meal, or buy a gift certificate and give it as a gift. Little things go a long way, especially when we all do it together.
