MAMAView X Fest Timeline

Our Local XFest Setist By Jill Ferris and Nic Padilla Hey there! So its XFest time again, and as always we’re featuring a ton of great music! Now, usually when you buy your ticket, you have at least one or two bands in mind that you are going to see, however, this year Nic and I decided to put together a timeline of, mostly local, but all awesome bands that you can see this year at XFest. Make sure to stop by the Bud Light Stage to say hi to me, or try to find Nic between either of his awesome stages! HAPPY XFEST!! In the meantime, look these bands up and enjoy their music. 6 pm – Insideout – Bud Light Stage This band has been making quite a splash here in Modesto! Just in the last year they have opened up for J Boog, Mike Pinto, Authority Zero, and several other reggae acts visiting Modesto for a night or two. Insideout is a perfect choice for the first slot on the Bud Light stage this year at XFest because they know how to get a party started! So start your pre-gaming early if you must, but get downtown in time to check these guys out. They might be the opener this year, but the sky is the limit with a band like this! – Jill Ferris 6:30 – Bully the Kid – Nic’s Punk Rock Stage Originating from Brooklyn Ny, but now based out of Fresno Ca, Bully the Kid uses elements of punk, rock and reggae to create their unique sound. Their catchy fun style makes for a solid energetic show! They might be Fresno based, but their Modesto following is an impressively solid one. – Nic Padilla 7 pm – Natural Vibrations – Bud Light Stage Natural Vibrations (aka Natty Vibes) might not be living in this town but over the last year and a half, this Hawaii band has been to Modesto more than once. Each time, they’ve gain more fans and more friends. These are some of the nicest and most talented guys you will ever meet. Even if you are not typically a reggae fan, after a couple of minutes listening to them you will be grooving and dancing to their roots reggae sound! Back home in Hawaii they are legends, and I am so excited that they will be a part of this year’s line up on the Bud Light Stage at XFest!! – Jill Ferris 7:45 – YBS – Nic’s Punk Rock Stage 2013 X Fest Battle of the Bands winners, YBS, have taken over the scene as of late. With a raw, old school punk sound, and catchy songs that make you want to dance, their performance is a fun one you’ll be glad you were a part of. One of the few bands who is happy to hear “Your Band Sucks” chanted while they play, YBS brings an awesome punk rock attitude to the stage, reminiscent of old school punk like Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys. Definitely one to catch. – Nic Padilla 9:30 – Pounders – Nic’s Punk Rock Stage Coming to us from San Jose, Pounders fun rock/pop-punk sound and high energy live show gains them new fans every time they play. Fresh off the Vans Warped Tour Pomona, they’re ready to show Modesto a good time. With a sound that blends Greenday, Alkaline Trio, and Blink 182, and catchy songs full of attitude they’re a must see at this year’s X Fest. – Nic Padilla 10:00 – Better Left Unsaid – Nic’s New Rock Stage Modesto, CA’s Better Left Unsaid has been rocking the valley since 2003. Getting ready to release their third national cd, these guys are on the road straight to the top. With a modern metal sound, and a killer live show packed full of energy, these guys are one to keep an eye on at X Fest. – Nic Padilla 11:00 – Keep It Lit – Nic’s Punk Rock Stage Mark my words XFest goers, this stage is going to be a hot spot come 11:00 pm on Aug 3rd!!! Right down the way from where the Bud Light Stage is located, after Iration’s set is over, all Modesto’s reggae family will connect for this bands set. Why? The answer is simple, these guys rock!!! Keep It Lit is one of those bands that fuels the crowd with fun vibes, and you can’t help but dance. Not a dancer? You will be if you find yourself on 10th street at 11:00 on Aug 3rd. – Jill Ferris 12:00 – Hit and Run – Hawk Stage I am so excited to see these guys up on a big outdoor stage. It is almost like they were born to play huge stages, after dark, with killer lighting and tons of people! Hit and Run’s melodic hard rock will have you fist pumping and singing along all at the same time. These local boys formed the band only a couple of years ago, but this band is definitely one to watch. Next year we could be flying them in from Hollywood to perform back home in Modesto! – Jill Ferris
