Metal View By Mike Vanek XFest Metal and a Good Cause for a Good Friend
Hello friends and neighbors, it’s been a while but I am back with the metal news of the 209!! The biggest story of the day is X fest and the Support Local Music Stage which features some of the raddest bands in our local metal and hard rock scene. We used to beg for metal bands at X-Fest and now it’s one of the main draws to the festival. Dude, this lineup is sick. See page 16 for the bands and their set times.
I asked two longtime veterans of our scene, “How important is it for metal bands to play X fest? Dave Ussery of Brutal Innocence said “More important than most realize. The metal scene has been an important part of Modesto music since the early 90s. It’s nice to finally be acknowledged”. Jojo Rush of Nothing But Losers also commented “I would say being a metal band that has been invited to play three years in a row should be a big deal to the whole metal community shows that metal has a place in Modesto, even at Xfest”. All these bands have tickets so hit up your favorite band on the show and get yours today! Our scene is full of good people doing good things. People like Pammy Von Duke of Pamsterdam Promotionz who has done a number of benefits for people. The GMA has done a number of benefits and Turlock natives Broken Trojan have a benefit coming up on August 9th at The Grizzly Rock in Turlock with Soapbox, Antithesis of it, BNUT, and Irietide. Donations will be taken at the door for medical expenses. One last thing a few bands would like me to print their upcoming shows so here they are.
