I write this in a cheap motel in mountain View after the Rockstar Mayhem Festival which was an amazing experience all day!! I saw a lot of new bands including Jungle Rot & Sister Sin from Sweden!! Not to mention Thy art is murder & The mighty White Chapel!! With Headliners SLAYER, King Diamond, Hell Yeah & TDWP this year was a monster Mayhem festival but the most impressive part was the invasion by the 209Metal scene!! Band members from Nothing But Losers, Death Stench, The Meats$&@t’s, Sworn to the Black, Eroszion, Perfect Nightmare, Skin 4 Julia, Etched in Stone, Bavmorda, Van Diemens Band, HATRIOT, and many more all converged on the annual day of heavy metal and the stairs next to the 2nd stage looked like a 209 area metal show as we all congregated in a huge modesto area crowd!! It was a rad day by far and I can’t wait till next year!!
This month, the Metal is Hot in July with Straight Line Stitch, Spades and Blades and more at the Other Place on July 3. Buckstallion returns to Spinnaker’s on July 9. Later in the month on July 18 we have Jo’s Birthday Extravaganza at The Spinnaker Lounge and the Modesto Metal scene will be showcased in Berkeley at 924 Gillman with Zombie Death Stench, Nothing But Losers, California Medication and more. Sounds like a road trip!
