NEW MUSIC FOR YOUR EARS

This month I would like to take the time to tell you guys about some good music in our metal scene these days. First CD I reviewed was that of this years 2012 MAMA Award winners Zombie Death Stench. If the Zombie Apocalypse actually happened, this would be the soundtrack! Entitled “The Coming Bloodbath” this CD perfectly fits its title with a thrashy Death Metal sound that will melt your brain. I strongly encourage you to go out and check out this hardworking band and pick up a copy of this CD. You will love it. ZDS is one of the hardest working bands on the scene and they probably shoulda been the band to play the MAMA awards actually being from Modesto and regularly gigging in the city we love so much!

Next on my list is the highly anticipated release of Warpath Assassins “Under a Black Flag”. This CD is an all out assault on the senses!! This straight up metal attack is a blistering homage to the old school Sepultura style of “take-no-prisoners” metal! Jason James takes you on a journey through the mind of a trained killer with his own brand of lyric writing that we have come to know from him for the last 15 years or so. Match that with the bombastic drumming of James Porras and the highly technical aspects of Crusher’s bass playing you have one of the most entertaining bands our METAL scene has to offer! These guys live, breath, eat & sleep MODESTO METAL!! If you have seen these guys powerful live show then you are going to love Warpath Assassin’s Under a Black Flag!

Lastly this month I would like to encourage everyone to go out and support YOUR local metal scene. Being the only member of our staff that actually goes out to the local metal events I would like to challenge the local public to go out and discover our local metal scene. Who knows, you may actually go out and see something you like. We’re not a bunch of moshing crazies as some would make you believe. We pretty much just stand there and watch our bands with pride andengage in good conversation just like The Thursday Night Ramble and other events around town. I strongly encourage you to go out and discover our wonderful local metal scene and truly enjoy all types of Modesto music, not just what’s popular or trendy.

That’s all for me this month!! As alwayskeep one foot in the gutter and one fist in the gold!!
