Impressions and Abstracts Member Show

Art Walk and Reception Thursday February 18, 2016 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
This is a theme show open to Central California Artist Association members only. It will include two and three dimensional works of art.
Impressionism definition. A style of painting associated mainly with French artists of the late nineteenth century, such as Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Impressionist painting seeks to recreate the artist’s or viewer’s general impression of a scene; seeks to recreate the artist’s or viewer’s general impression of a scene. A style of painting that began in France around 1870 that uses spots of color to show the effects of different kinds of light and that attempts to capture the feeling of a scene rather than specific details.
Abstract art definition: A trend in painting and sculpture in the twentieth century. Abstract art seeks to break away from traditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereas more traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.
