(Modesto, CA) – Modesto Junior College Dance Department will present Off~Balance in Repertory Performance on February 18, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 in the MJC Performing and Media Arts Center Auditorium on East Campus, 435 College Ave in Modesto.
The Off~Balance dancers will share the stage this year with guest performances from The Nhan Ho Dance Project of San Jose on Feb. 18, Central West Ballet on Feb. 19, San Francisco Dance Theatre on Feb. 20, and Sacramento State University Dance Theatre on Feb. 21.
The MJC Off~Balance Dance Company is an eclectic ensemble of young and mature artists that perform with physicality, integrity and grace, and a belief that through movement, the spoken word may be revealed. The program will showcase stunning and emotional modern and contemporary dance performances. The concert will be choreographed by the MJC Off~Balance company members; Rebbecca Meyers, Maggie Sniffen, and Blair Shearer-Pope, and by MJC dance faculty Lori Bryhni and Kim T. Davis.
“The evening’s choreography of images is framed by thought and perception with works of art unfolding with each moment of movement and gesture,” said Professor Bryhni.
Tickets are $5 for Preview Night on Feb. 18, and are $10 general admission and $8 for students and seniors for all other performances. Tickets are available in advance at the MJC Auditorium Box Office on East Campus, Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. or by calling (209) 575-6776 during these hours.
