MJC Fundraiser features Wine, Beer and Food Tasting – Mar 13


Celebrate Modesto Junior College fundraiser to feature wine, beer and food tasting

The Modesto Junior College Foundation is hosting the 17th annual Celebrate MJC – Wine, Beer and Gourmet Food Tasting on Friday, May 13, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Rogers Student Learning Center on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue, Modesto. The event features regional beers and wines for sampling accompanied by hors d’oeuvres, music and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit the 21 sports in MJC’s Athletic Program.

To date, the wine tasting will include premium varietals from E. & J. Gallo Family Vineyards, Hatcher Winery, Renner Winery, Silkwood Wines and The Wine Group.

Beer sampling will be provided by Boston Beer Company, DBI Beverages, Delta Sierra Beverage, Dust Bowl Brewing, Riley’s Brewing and Sand Dude, as well as how to make your own beer from Barley & Wine .

Food and dessert providers include Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, The Cheesecake Kitchen, Chopping Block Butcher Shop & Deli, Concetta, El Marisquero Authentic Mexican, Frost Bakery and Fine Foods, Hilmar Cheese Company, KFC, Martella Farms, Modesto Grocery Outlet, O’Brien’s Market, Orient House Chinese and Japanese Cuisine, Papa John’s Pizza, Starbucks and Sweet Sioux Bakery.

Local artists Victoria Boyington and Patti Davis will entertain by playing acoustic guitar and singing. Auction items will include premium wines, gift certificates, gift baskets, sports memorabilia and more.

Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased by calling the MJC Foundation at 575-6068 or MJC Athletics at 575-6270, or online at www.mjc.edu/athletics/. In addition, tickets can be purchased at the MJC Athletic Department, 435 College Ave, Modesto and at Play It Again Sports, 2720 McHenry Ave, Modesto. Tickets increase to $40 if purchased at the door on the day of the event. Purchasers must be at least 21 years of age to attend the event.

“Whether or not you are a sports fan, we invite you to come enjoy a fun evening of tasting food, wine and beer that supports MJC’s sports programs and our student athletes,” said Nick Stavrianoudakis, MJC athletics director.
