MoBandView – Opening Night June 7

MoBand Opening Night June 7th
By Chris Murphy

A big brass band, in a bandshell, in a park, with food, drink, wine, and fun sounds like the perfect evening. Add to this 3,000 of your best friends, blankets, and picnic baskets and you have a hall of fame slice of Americana, or Modestocana as we like to say.

June and July in Modesto’s Graceada Park bring the sights and sounds of the Modesto Band of Stanislaus County. Yes this is MoBand Concert in the Park. It is our band, the sound of our city. We have many fantastic festivals like American Graffiti, Porchfest, Lucky Fest, but MoBand is the top of the pops. There is really nothing like it. The blankets are out early, the wine is ready, the picnics are made and the music starts at 8 pm, for six Thursdays and thanks to MoBand Sponsors and the Night at the Bowl fundraiser (see below) these are FREE.

MoBand Concert in the Park is almost 100 years old and been going strong since 1919. Yes, Modesto, we have a national treasure. How many of your friends in other cities have a huge community cultural event like this? I’ll bet not many.
