Modesto High’s Paws Rescue club to hold doggie treat raffle to benefit homeless pets and owners
Donations of doggie treats, leashes, & collars still needed!
(Modesto) – Concerned about the welfare of pets that belong to people experiencing homelessness in and around Modesto, local student Cecilia Garcia, founder of Modesto High School’s Modesto Paws Rescue club, is organizing a doggie treat raffle to benefit the homeless and their pets in conjunction with Church in the Park, a weekly church service and meal provided for homeless people. Approximately 20-30 people attend Church in the Park each week, and many of them have pets which help provide companionship. Event organizer Cecilia Garcia, a sophomore at Modesto High, says “I believe homeless people help our community by taking care of their dogs and not letting them run around as strays. So help us help them by donating some dog treats today. We urgently need more leashes, collars, and of course more treats.” Donations of dog treats, leashes, and collars can be dropped off at the Modesto High School main office, 18 H Street, Modesto, CA 95351, or contact Cecilia Garcia to make arrangements ceciliagarcia2126@gmail.com or (209) 277-3915.
