The science-fiction adventure story follows the tale of two teenagers, Marina and Carter, who meet on an island and have recently discovered they possess powers. The first book leaves you craving more about the characters and storyline, but fear not: the second is currently in the last editing stages. I recently attending a book signing Juliana held at the Barnes & Noble on McHenry in Modesto, and was thoroughly impressed by this young woman.
She had landed back in Modesto less than 24 hours previous to the signing, after a school trip to D.C, yet she didn’t let jet lag interfere with her peppy, professional demeanor. She greeted every fan with a thankful enthusiasm you just don’t see everyday. You would never guess this book was written by a 13 year old, with the social and emotional issues it tackles. This series is going to grow along with Juliana into a truly magical story.
She likes to speak to other students and encourage them to follow their dreams, no matter what their age might be. She says, “Don’t put off accomplishing your dreams later, if you can make them come true today.” And she sure is going for those dreams!
