Everyone loves a love story. Everyone is intrigued by romantic pairings in music. Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo, Johnny and June, Elvis Costello and Diana Krall, Bruce Springsteen and Patty Scialfa- you get the picture. The local music scene is no different and we as fan followers of both love and music can be a big part of a special and unconventional musical event.

The Acoustic Singer Songwriter Duo, “Me and You” are the hosts of Friday Night Unplugged, a mini-concert series at the Queen Bean.  Tyler Bates and Christina Fleming have been engaged since the Summer of 2015 and set about creating a life that evolves around their greatest symphonies- their Son, Ezra and their original music.

In the summer of 2014 Tyler’s band was playing at Bookies when he met Christina, whose brother was in the band. Beauty and a radiating energy gave him pause. He invited Christina to sing with him while the band would take breaks. Once they became a couple, it seemed like an obvious choice to create music together.

They enjoy many types of music and influences but they seem to have found resonance in “The Civil Wars”, “Johnnyswim”, and “Penny & Sparrow”. Their way of life and experiences inspire their original compositions, honest to who they are. Family, love and relationships are all a part of that.

Tyler and Christina bring love and care into every note, they want to, “write and play music that everyone relates to and something that feels real.” Their biggest wish is to make a difference in someone’s life with even just one song. They hope their legacy will be a, “positive stamp on the world.”

This spring they will take their vows and are making arrangements for the wedding they have dreamed about. What better way to raise money than to do what they love most?

On Saturday, February 25th, a wedding fundraiser show will take place at DEVA Café at 6pm. A type of “Nuptial Shower with Songs” will feature Tyler and Christina playing originals and cover material and sharing the night with their good friend and fellow artist Mitchell Alan Dill and some very special guests. The gate fee is only $5. Please come  and bring your family and friends for a night out with great music, excellent food and drinks in an atmosphere that welcomes all ages and exudes positivity to celebrate love.

When asked the iconic Modesto View music question “Beatles or Stones?”, they replied, “The Stones because we are both big Blues fans.”
