Fire2Wire has teamed up with the Stanislaus County Alliance Worknet, the City of Modesto, and the ModestoView to provide a new way to “Light it Up” downtown. There is now free WiFi at 10th Street Plaza!
The WiFi is easy to log into, and will save your family massive amounts of data on your mobile phone plans.
Creative types can set up shop via their mobile offices, and work freely on their tablets and laptops, to be inspired by the weather and the crowd. Lunch meetings can be held out of the office for a change of pace without ruining any Skype calls.
It is built to provide service to the masses. It can handle several dozen people working on it at once. The average speed tested so far was 20mb.
Modesto is now providing something few cities provide, a large free WiFi hotspot, centered in the hub of the city where thousands of residents hang out every day.
There was a gathering of folks present this morning for the unveiling of the new WiFi service. Bill Moreno, David White, Garrard Marsh and Chris Murphy gave speeches to commemorate this special occasion.
