I love the Ice Cream Company. Many special occasions for our family, from youth soccer finals, Girl Scout events and even the weekend bike ride to go get some treats ended up at the Ice Cream Company in Century Center. The giant sundaes, the soups, the sandwiches and the size of the servings was amazing. If you loved it before, you will really love it now.
I didn’t know this until recently, but the Ice Cream Company is now a non-profit organization called Enrich and Employ. The owners came to the realization that the work that they had in the shop was something that most people could do, some of it pretty easy, and might be perfect for those with employment challenges or special needs. So they created a new way to train people of all skills, teach them the jobs that need to be done and build a business around it.
What sweeter thing can you get with your ice cream knowing that the people scooping it up are getting an important foundation and the pride of having a good job? This is an amazing and very tasty story and it is something the deserves our support. First, go have lunch, dinner, a party or just go grab a sundae and your purchase will help this mission to remove employment barriers in our community. Or, you can actually donate to help keep this very helpful business model going, and even encourage others to do the same. www.icecreamcompany.org
So get ready for some hot fudge and whipped cream and head to the Ice Cream Company. It will be good for you and good for others.
