Pepe Aguilar’s Show Review By Efren Martinez
Pepe Aguilar performed to a lovely and very well dressed group of fans. Many of them arrived in limos and chauffeured buses. The concert goers were pleasant and ready to enjoy Pepe’s wonderful music with the king of spirits, “Budweiser.” As I enjoyed the concert, I couldn’t help but notice that many of the woman there were being swayed by Pepe. They continually yelled his name and applauded as much as they could during the entire concert. The men too were also equally vocal as if to say, Pepe is one of us and this is why I am singing his music aloud with him. “Viva Mexico!”
Everyone had a wonderful time and Pepe was very personal as he spoke to his fans in between songs in English and in Spanish. You might say what we Mexicans call Spanglish. Part English, part Spanish. I personally didn’t know he spoke English and when I met him I addressed him in Spanish. He replied to me in very well spoken English. Honestly, I felt somewhat embarrassed; but that emotion quickly went away as our conversation continued. Pepe is a delightful man and his kindness was genuine.
After I took his photo, I politely asked him if he would sign an autograph photo for my mother. Without even thinking twice, he asked her name. Next week is my mother’s Birthday and I will give her Pepe’s personal autograph. Mr. Aguilar, thank you for your kindness, coming to Modesto and for making my mother’s birthday special.
