A Time to Perform in April
By Kaye Osborn & ModestoView Staff

There are lots of theatrical experiences for you to explore this month. My good friend Kimberly Ogden is directing a play for the Gallo Center Repertory Company called Sangre de un Angel written by Roxanne Scroeder-Arce (who also wrote Mariachi Girl). This dramatic play illustrates how the choices we make can affect our relationships and our lives forever. It is based on a true story of Adam Chapa, who was shot by a teen gang member in East Austin, Texas. It is exciting that GCRC is producing such timely productions.

Modesto Performing Arts will be celebrating 50 years with a stellar musical concert featuring over 120 alumni performers. (I am one of them!) Some of them have gone on to Broadway and international stages. Don’t miss this show! The singing will astound you! Paul Tischer is a gift to our theatrical community. Come join in the fun and honor Modesto Performing Arts. A reception will follow in the lobby with food and wine.

Neil Simon’s Rumors “A Farce”

West Side Players Production

April 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Friday & Sat performances start at 7 PM, Sun Matinee 3 PM

Tickets: General Admission $15 – Reserved Section $18 – Students 1/2 price
