Poetry Night returns to LoFi Diner on the second Wednesday in October, 10/9, 7:30pm! This event marks our one-year anniversary! We will be celebrating with a “horror” haiku battle. Bring your scariest verse whether it’s about ghosts and goblins or a frightening ex-girlfriend or boyfriend. Feel free to interpret “horror” as broadly as you want! Come thru to kazoo for your favorite haiku! The winner of our Haiku Battle will receive $100 and the award for Best Open Mic Poem also receives $100, and even cooler, each winning poet receives a gorgeous handmade trophy!
If you want more poetry in your life and, more importantly, if you want to celebrate two great arts organizations, join us on October 25th at Zinc House Farm for “Expressions, Uncorked,” the fundraising party of the year, featuring Clark Ferrea wine flights and small bites, live art paintings, and poetry from some local luminaries, paired with youth dance performances, a live auction, and a dance party all in support of the Modesto Artists Movement and Juline Foundation for Children.
The renaissance has begun! Modesto is poised to be the next great city of art and we are excited to help elevate this art, celebrate its creators, and build a community of creativity!
