Let the celebrations begin as Porchfest is back!
Kate, Ruhi and Trisha, who also bring us ModShop in the fall, have set the date of May 22 for the biggest community wide concert. There are over 30 porches in the neighborhoods surrounding downtown Modesto that will be hosting bands on their porches. There will be music on over 30 porches from noon to 5 pm and you can make your way from porch to porch, sampling the great music that Modesto has to offer. There is everything from spoken word, acoustic singer songwriters, to classic rock and beyond, representing a pretty cool cross-section of the Modesto Area Music talent.
These porch concerts are free to enjoy, but please generously tip at each location for the bands. That would be so very appreciated everything is donated. I am very excited as we will have bands from 11:30 am to 5 pm at my house featuring the Vibes, Third Party, Triple D and the return of Marirose Powell. There will be more music on our street too.
The best recommendation is to take your bike from place to place as there is good bike parking. Also, some of the houses have some nice grass area or adjacent parks were you can bring an ice chest and camp out for the day. It is up to you. Please make sure that you take your trash with you.
