Radio 92.9 Supports Breast Cancer Research-Local Bachelor Auction Fundraiser!

Clear Channel’s Radio 92.9 to Host “Hero Hook Up” Bachelor Auction Benefiting The National Breast Cancer Foundation

Modesto, CA – October 2, 2013 – Clear Channel’s Radio 92.9, Modesto’s hit radio station and Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement brand of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, announced today that it will host the inaugural Hero Hook Up, a fundraising event that will auction off date experiences with local servicemen, on Thursday, October 17 from 6 – 9 p.m. as part of its Breast Cancer Awareness Month efforts. Proceeds from the Hero Hook Up will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Challenge, a program that helps fund free mammograms for underserved women nationwide.

Hero Hook Up will be hosted by Radio 92.9’s on-air personality Chimpo, who will also emcee the charity auction and will give donors the opportunity to bid on dates with Modesto firemen, policemen, military personnel and other eligible local heroes. The 10 bachelors, who were chosen by the Modesto community through an online voting process, have donated their time to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

“We salute Radio 92.9 and their sponsors for honoring Modesto’s finest servicemen and supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Challenge,” said Greg Carroll, Manager, Pink Ribbon Challenge, National Breast Cancer Foundation. “The money raised will help provide free mammograms for women who otherwise could not afford a potentially life-saving screening.”

“Radio 92.9 is committed to improving the Modesto community, and Hero Hook Up is a great way to have some fun with our listeners while helping a good cause,” said Dennis Martinez, Program Director, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Modesto. “We are thrilled to team up with National Breast Cancer Foundation for this unique program that will help raise money to support free mammogram screenings across the country.”

The highest bidders will receive a special date with their bachelor of choice, along with a date package that includes a $100 gift certificate for a local Modesto restaurant and sponsored gift items. Guests will also have the opportunity to make individual donations, bid on silent auction gift baskets and enjoy a variety of vendor booths, and all proceeds will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
