As we enter into 2016, I have my sights set to scale back the shows I cover as a photo journalist for the ModestoView. It’s been a wonderful ride and I’m grateful to all the artists and record labels for their show invites, interviews, press releases and the new music they send me prior to it’s global release. Many of these folks in the professional music industry are my friends and we go as far back to the early 90’s.  So with that said, thank you to them and thank you to all who have followed me here and read my entertainment pieces.

While most of the best in talent were celebrating the Modesto Area Music Awards last October, I was in the city by the bay with Marina and the Diamonds. Earlier this year I was calling her new LP, “Froot”, as my choice for LP of the year. This year a great deal of artists also came out with new LP’s. Duran Duran had “Paper Gods” and New Order busted out with “Music Complete”. These two LP’s were also among my favorites for 2015.  As a DJ it really has been a wonderful year in new music from Country to Rock and everything in between. Now with less than 1 week left of 2015 my personal pick for LP of the year is still Marina and the Diamonds’ “Froot.”

Her amazing talent of being able to transition her voice to go from a high to a low moves me as well as her performing artistic style I experienced in October at The Fox Theater in Oakland. She is definitely chic and she knows it. Let me be the one to invite you again in trying something new, something with a European flavor that you can’t experience on any local radio station. I invite you to taste her new LP, Froot.
