LOUD, VOWED, PROUD and WOWED was the CROWD
By Patty Castillo Davis

Never mind that the weather here is unpredictable and seasons get left out of the year. June insinuates itself in however it arrives, unsettling, unsavory, unabashedly odd but it’s our version of Summertime and we freaking love it. A lot.

June in our community brings all types of revelry and we are blessed to have it. Weddings, LGBTQ+ Pride Celebrations , American Graffiti, the start up of the MoBand season and art and music festivals abound, bringing us all together in the same space (mostly)- like COVID never happened (almost). Go out and grab you a handful of June, sloppy kiss it and savor it. There is too much to do and not enough weekends to do it.

One of our local favorite Indie bands, Horizon Point, will be at the Game Room in Sonora on June 4 as part of a triple bill -show begins at 7 pm and June 25 at Grains of Virtue. My personal favorite MAMA nominated artist Singer Songwriter, Candace Lamb will be performing at the Funky Market at Kerr Park in Oakdale on June 4 from 10:30-1 pm. Kayla Just, will be performing at Contentment Brewing on Friday, June 3, reinterpreting cover tunes.

The Art Walk is back at Tresettis’s outdoor space with amazing artists and live music. Thursday, June 16, features Melynda Rodriguez, honoring LGBTQ+ month with a very special performance.

I’m ecstatic and honored to announce that my band-A Gathering of the Vibes will be out at the American Graffiti Festival and Car show on Sunday, June 12 from 11:30 am to 2:30 playing tunes from across the genres and decades, come on out to the largest car event in the Central Valley.

A heartfelt hug and kiss to my Dad, Alonzo Castillo, who is such a wonderful human, patriot, advocate and leader. Here’s to all the Papas, Daddies, Father Figures, Abuelitos and Step Dads- Happy Father’s Day!
